China's coal mining and washing industry earned a total profit of 295.42 billion yuan (around $41.8 billion) in the first four months of this year, down 14.6% year on year, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on May 27.
The total revenue of the coal mining and washing industry stood at 1,235.69 billion yuan during the period, down 6.0% year on year, while costs were registered at 765.8 billion yuan, 2.7% lower than the year-ago level.
The profit in all mining industries of the country dropped 12.3% year on year to 475.24 billion yuan in January-April, while revenue reached 2,054.43 billion yuan, down 4.5% from a year ago. Costs of the all mining industries were 1,290.58 billion yuan, sinking 1.4% from a year ago.
In January-April, major industrial enterprises (with annual revenue from main business operations of 20 million yuan or more) across all fields reported 2,032.88 billion yuan of profit, down 20.6% year on year. Their revenue came in at 41.07 trillion yuan, up 0.5% year on year, and the total cost rose 1.6% to 34.98 trillion yuan, data showed.
